I am so glad you like this song. All Russians know it. This traditional Russian song was first recorded in 1866. It was a regular part of the repertoire of our world famous singer Feodor Chaliapin in 1920s-1930s.
I was fortunate to hear Ivan Rebrovhim singing this song at one of his last concerts.
